1 injured in Pennsylvania drunk driving crash

A suspected drunk driving accident led to the arrest of one driver and the hospitalization of another. The accident happened in Wall Township, Pennsylvania, recently and closed part of Belmar Boulevard for more than 12 hours.

A 27-year-old woman from Philadelphia was allegedly drinking and driving when she failed to obey a stop sign. As she blew through the sign, she crashed into a vehicle driven by a 47-year-old female from Westfield. The 47-year-old was traveling east in her vehicle on Belmar Boulevard. The vehicle of the 47-year-old, a black Infiniti SUV, flipped after the collision. The vehicle of the 27-year-old, a black Honda Accord, crashed into a utility pole, breaking it. Pieces and contents of the SUV littered the scene of the accident.

A first aid unit was utilized to extract the 47-year-old from her SUV. Witnesses at the scene saw her taken away, but did not see any serious injuries on the woman. She was treated for injuries at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and released. The 27-year old woman was arrested by a reporting officer. He apprehended her for driving while intoxicated and took her to the police station for processing.

As this accident shows, drunk driving accidents can cause serious damage. Thankfully, neither driver was seriously injured in this accident, but that is not always the case. Drunk driving accidents kill many people each year in Pennsylvania, leaving families and friends to mourn the sudden loss of a loved one. Hopefully Pennsylvania drivers can learn from this accident and work toward keeping the roads safe for all drivers.
