Wrongful death lawsuit filed in trucking accident

One woman, living as a U.S. citizen in Ontario, Canada, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit over a truck accident that led to the death of her husband in 2009. The accident happened in Pennsylvania and allegedly involved four different companies.

The woman is suing all four of the companies and the driver of the tractor-trailer. In August 2009, the woman's husband was driving his Chrysler Pacifica and heading south on Interstate 81 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, when he found himself in a fatal accident. While heading north on the same road, the truck driver lost control and crossed the median of the freeway. While the truck moved across the freeway, the trailer was thrown into the air. Then, the truck's cab came down and collided directly with the man's car. Rescue teams had to use special tools to cut the Chrysler apart and retrieve the severely injured man.

His wife's lawsuit says that the trucking accident was caused by the driver's negligence, as well as the four companies that had a financial interest in the cargo, the truck and the trailer. The widow's lawsuit alleges that their negligence caused the death of her husband and caused him to suffer severely before his death. Eagle Systems, Inc.; Twist Trucking, LLC; Swift Transportation Company and Thoroughbred Direct Intermodal Services have all been named as defendants in the lawsuit. They supposedly did not provide proper training or supervision to the truck driver. The truck driver did not take proper evasive maneuvers, claims the woman in her lawsuit.

His wife is hoping to receive damages for the family's loss.
