According to authorities, a 48-year-old man from a few hours away from Philadelphia was involved in an accident in Pennsylvania earlier this month. The fatal car crash took the life of a 20-year-old female who was running along the side of the highway.
Reports allege that the man was driving south in a pickup truck on Route 507 in Palmyra Township, Pennsylvania, when he reportedly struck the young woman. Eyewitnesses said that the truck crossed the double yellow line and the fog line on several occasions before striking the woman.
Police said that the accident is still being investigated and that charges would be filed.
The man has had many run-ins with the law this month. According to records, he was arrested a day after the fatal crash when he was involved in another accident. He struck a utility pole while driving in New Jersey. According to the man, there was a car in front of him that stopped suddenly.
The man was not injured in the crash, but authorities discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest for soliciting at a golf course after being asked to stop. In addition, the man was arrested after wielding an ax at a McDonald's restaurant. He was demanding free food at the time.
Since the most recent crash, police recommended the man for driver reexamination. The process is often used for elderly individuals after a crash, but authorities believe it to be apt in this case. The family of the victim may also want to pay attention to what happens to this man.
