Route 202 crash left motorcyclist injured, truck driver charged

Reports indicate that a motor vehicle crash late last month left a 24-year-old man in critical condition at Paoli Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania. The incident, reportedly a drunk driving accident, occurred on April 26 around 10:28 p.m. Police quickly responded to the scene in Westtown Township at the intersection of Route 202 and Stanton Avenue.

The crash involved two vehicles: a pickup truck and a motorcycle. The pickup truck, a Dodge Ram, was driven by a 49-year-old man from West Chester, Pennsylvania. He was heading south on Route 202 and slowed down to turn left at Stanton Avenue. At the same time, the 24-year-old from Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania, was driving his motorcycle north on 202. When the pickup truck turned left, it ended up in the path of the motorcycle and authorities believe that this caused the crash.

When police arrived on the scene, they discovered that the motorcyclist had been critically injured. Medic 91 and Good Fellowship Ambulance transported him to the hospital. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Police also examined the pickup truck driver and found signs that he was intoxicated. Sobriety tests were administered and the 49-year-old reportedly failed them. Authorities arrested the man and charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. They also accused him of driving while operating privileges were either revoked or suspended for previous offenses.

Investigators have continued looking at the accident and authorities are seeking witnesses to better understand the circumstances of the crash. It is possible that the motorcyclist could file a personal injury suit against the pickup driver, as long as responsibility can be proven. Drunk driving can and does result in dangerous situations that injure the drivers who choose to drink as well as others. Anyone seeking such a case should contact an attorney to determine their next steps.
