1 killed, several others injured when truck collides with cars

Whenever there is an accident that involves several vehicles, there is a chance of serious injury and substantial damage to vehicles. When the incident is a truck accident and also involves passenger vehicles, the chances of injuries, fatalities and damage to personal property is even greater. A recent accident has left one person dead and several other injured, and authorities are investigating how the accident occurred.

The Nov. 4 accident happened when a tractor trailer, driven by a 23-year-old man, allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Pomona Road and White Horse Pike. The truck struck three vehicles: a Mercedes Benz, a Chevy Cruze and a Toyota Tundra.

The Chevy Cruze overturned and was pinned under the truck. The driver of the Cruze, a 69-year-old man, was killed. Two passengers in the Cruze, a 66-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man, were injured and taken to a local hospital.

The driver of the Toyota Tundra, a 36-year-old off-duty police officer, called in the accident on his cell phone, then assisted others who were injured before being taken to a local hospital himself for treatment of his injuries. The driver and passenger in the Mercedes were also taken to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the truck, as well as a 22-year-old female passenger were also injured and taken to the hospital. The conditions of those who were injured is unknown.

The intersection where the accident took place was closed for several hours while law enforcement investigated the accident and the area was cleared. The accident is still under investigation and charges are pending the results. The intersection where the accident occurred is known to be dangerous, so law enforcement will want to ensure all possibilities are examined regarding why the accident happened. This will be important to those who were injured and family of the man who was killed because it could help determine who could be held financially responsible for their injuries and personal property losses. Speaking with an experienced legal professional could help anyone who has suffered a loss due to an accident work through the process and help decide if seeking damages is the best course of action.
