Arrest made in pedestrian car accident that killed 2 teenagers

Accidents can occur on the roads at any moment. Negligent drivers can cause injuries to not only themselves, their passengers and other motorists, but also to pedestrians who find themselves near intersections or business parking lots. These unfortunate events can leave victims and their families heartbroken.

A recent incident in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, marked another example of this unnerving fact when a 45-year-old man was arrested following a car accident that left one teenager dead and another victim seriously injured. The driver was arrested and charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, among other charges.

An 18-year-old recent high school graduate was walking with his friend in front of a McDonald’s restaurant when the victims were both struck by a pickup truck, which had been hit by the driver charged in this case. Although the pickup truck struck the two pedestrians, it was the driver of the vehicle that crashed into the pickup who was charged with homicide by vehicle. During a press conference announcing the arrest and charges, the district attorney stated that the man was under the influence of drugs when the pedestrian accident occurred.

Unfortunately, fatal car accidents such as these happen far too often. While there is no real compensation for the pain and suffering brought by these tragedies, victims and their families can seek assistance to help them determine their rights to compensation for their loss. Pennsylvania drivers need to understand there are consequences for putting the lives of others at risk, especially when getting behind the wheel of a vehicle while under the influence of drugs.
