Man doesn’t register properly as sex offender, faces new charges

In Pennsylvania, there are numerous short and long term consequences that come from being charged with a sex crime. Even a person who is unrightfully accused could face severe social, emotional and economical repercussions that could affect their quality of life in the long run.

One man was recently charged with the abuse of a 12 year old boy. He was charged once before in a separate child sex offense case in 1993. He was then required to register as a sex offender after being released from jail. All people who are convicted as sex offenders are required to go into a police station and register in person. However, the man called the police barracks instead. Because of this, he was charged with not properly registering as a sex offender.

On top of that charge, the man is also facing a new allegation. The man has been accused of sexually abusing a 12 year old since late 2014. In addition to his charge of failing to register properly, he is now also facing charges of corruption of minors, child endangerment, attempted child rape, and indecent assault on a child, among others. It is currently unknown what the potential consequences may be. His first offense landed him with a 6-15 year jail sentence.

Facing charges like this can be damaging to anyone. Even if it turns out that the allegations are false, having them levied against a person at all can cause damage to their reputation. Because of this, anyone facing allegations of a sex crime may consider contacting an attorney.
