2 injured in Pennsylvania truck accident

A collision between a truck and one other vehicle shut down Schuylkill Expressway in both directions between Girard Avenue and Montgomery Drive. The accident occurred at 10 p.m. on Dec. 2, and police say the truck was going westbound when it crossed into an eastbound lane and collided with a vehicle.

Two people were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, and they were identified as a 27-year-old man and a 40-year-old women. Neither suffered serious injuries in the crash. After the Pennsylvania DOT was able to clear debris and make repairs, all lanes were reopened to traffic. There was no mention of whether road conditions, a mechanical malfunction or driver impairment may have contributed to the accident.

After a truck accident, an injured victim may have serious brain injuries or broken bones. These injuries may take months or years to fully recover from, and an individual may be entitled to compensation from the party who caused the crash. This may be true whether the victim was a pedestrian or an occupant in one of the vehicles involved in the crash. Passengers in the truck that caused an accident may also be entitled to compensation for their injuries.

Compensation may help individuals recoup lost wages if they are unable to work because of the accident. It may also be possible to recover punitive damages if a driver was especially reckless or negligent in causing the crash. Medical bills and long-term rehabilitation costs may also be part of a settlement or an award decided by a jury after a trial. Those who are considering legal action against a driver who caused an accident may benefit from consulting with an attorney in order to determine the options that may be available.
