One Pennsylvania couple is trying to change the law in the state after they lost their 25-year-old daughter in an accident involving a drunk driver who had a prior DUI convictions.

According to a recent study, fatal alcohol-related car crashes went down by 26 percent after a 2009 alcohol tax increase in Illinois. The number of fatal alcohol-related crashes declined by 37 percent among younger drivers, and crashes involving impaired drivers declined by 22 percent after the tax increase. It is believed that similar tax increases in Pennsylvania and other states could save thousands of lives each year.

Police in Norristown, Pennsylvania, were not expecting to find what they did when reporting to the scene of what they believe may have been a car accident involving alcohol. The drunk driving accident injured one person -- the driver that has been accused of driving under the influence.

Police apprehend alleged drunk driver after leaving crash scene

Police in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, recently reported an intoxicated driver that led an officer in a chase. The supposedly intoxicated man could have caused a devastating drunk driving accident, according to witnesses. He nearly hit several pedestrians during the chase, all of them lucky that they were not injured. Authorities said that the driver was involved in a minor accident before the chase, one that he had supposedly fled the scene from.

Pennsylvania driver sentenced to jail for fatal accident

A 57-year-old man from Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to four to 12 years in state prison. The prosecution said that he was the reason a 1-year-old baby girl lost her life during a drunk driving accident. According to authorities, the man had a blood-alcohol content of 0.21, almost three times the legal limit of 0.08 in Pennsylvania.

Boy from Pennsylvania struck by allegedly drunk driver

A Pennsylvania boy is preparing for his fourth surgery in nearly a year. He was injured last year when he and his aunt were struck by an alleged drunk driver. The two were leaving a baseball game on Aug. 4 when a 22-year-old man behind the wheel of a Toyota Tundra struck the boy and his aunt as they were crossing the street.
