Pennsylvania man involved in fatal accident hours after DUI arrest

A Pennsylvania man with a history of impaired driving is suspected of killing a man while driving under the influence of drugs. The 22-year-old man from Ivyland, Pennsylvania, had been released from jail just hours before getting into the car accident that killed the 49-year-old man.

According to reports, the deceased was riding a bicycle home from work earlier this month in Philadelphia when the 22-year-old collided with him. After striking the bicyclist, the driver allegedly continued without stopping, hitting several parked cars and then colliding with another driver. The 52-year-old driver was transported to Temple University Hospital. After finally stopping his vehicle, the 22-year-old supposedly made an attempt to run from the scene on foot, but was stopped by a witness.

The 49-year-old bicyclist was the father of 11 children. His widow expressed grief over his death in a statement made to a local news outlet. She said to the news station that the 22-year-old driver "left me to raise 11 kids, by myself, because he wanted to get high."

The 22-year-old driver is being held in jail on $475,000 bail. The day before the fatal accident, he had been involved in another DUI accident that saw him charged with criminal mischief and driving under the influence. In the accident that took the life of the father of 11, the 22-year-old will face charges of involuntary manslaughter and homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence.

Hopefully this tragic accident will serve as a reminder to Pennsylvania drivers of the dangers of driving drunk.
