Truck crashes into home, kills woman in bed

The death of a 51-year-old woman in Meadville, Pennsylvania, has been ruled an accident by the Crawford County coroner. According to the coroner's report, the cause of her death was blunt force trauma to her torso and head.

While in her bed at her home, a truck collided with the house and embedded itself in the woman's bedroom. Authorities reported that the truck came to rest on top of the 51-year-old and the injuries she sustained from the car crash caused her to pass away.

The driver of the pickup truck, another woman from Meadville, lost control of her vehicle while she was traveling east on Route 27. Reports from the West Mead Township Police indicate that the truck went off the road near Old Ellis Road before colliding with several small trees. The vehicle had traveled approximately 100 yards off of the road before going through the trees and striking the house.

The 51-year-old woman was alone in her first-floor bedroom when the impact occurred.

According to the chief of the West Mead Township Police, the investigation will not be complete until medical records on the driver arrive. Once that information is acquired, it will be sent to the Crawford County District Attorney's Office to be reviewed. Based on these records and other factors, the District Attorney's Office will determine whether charges against the driver will be filed.

The investigation is expected to be completed within the next 30 days. Alcohol and drugs were not mentioned as factors in the crash.

West Mead Township Police said that the driver of the pickup truck had a female passenger inside of her vehicle. No information was reported on injuries to those within the truck.
