Man crashes into parked car, police find drugs and alcohol

Police in Norristown, Pennsylvania, were not expecting to find what they did when reporting to the scene of what they believe may have been a car accident involving alcohol. The drunk driving accident injured one person -- the driver that has been accused of driving under the influence.

According to reports, police responded to a report that indicated a car accident had occurred on the 1300 block of Locust Street in Norristown. The crash reportedly happened around 7 a.m. on March 24. After arriving, police found a gray 2012 Ford Fusion and a 23-year-old man from King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. The vehicle was stopped in the road and reports indicate that it had struck a parked car. The parked car that was struck collided with another parked car.

The man was reportedly out of his vehicle at the time when police arrived. Officers said that the man had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol was noticeable. They noted that he was unsteady on his feet and decided to take him into custody for the man's safety. The injured man reportedly declined treatment and after being told his rights, refused to take a blood test. He has since been charged with DUI.

After searching his vehicle, police reportedly discovered a slew of drugs and cash. According to reports, the search revealed more than $500 in cash, several bags of suspected heroin, a considerable number of prescription pills, two scales, drug paraphernalia as well as two empty cans of beer, and a broken bottle of tequila. He is currently being held on $15,000 bail.

Had another person been injured in the incident, it is very likely that a civil suit could be filed so that the plaintiff could claim personal injury. In such suits, most plaintiffs seek damages for medical expenses as well as emotional and physical trauma. Lawyers can help individuals properly file such claims, increasing their chances of succeeding in court.
