Woman falls on property, files suit against business and owner

Reports indicate that a business entity in Philadelphia has been named in a premises liability lawsuit. According to the suit, a woman from Texas was on the property where Chapman Ford Inc. is located when she encountered a defective condition. This condition reportedly caused her to slip and fall, injuring her in several different ways, the suit says. The incident occurred in February 2012 and the lawsuit was filed late last month, according to records.

The lawsuit names both Chapman Ford Inc. and 6925 Essington Ave. LP -- the owner of the property -- as defendants. In the suit, the plaintiff accuses at least one of the defendants -- Chapman Ford -- of committing negligence when failing to address the aforementioned condition that reportedly led to the woman's injuries. The condition listed in the suit is no more descriptive than it has been so far in this report. Her bodily injuries included herniated and bulging discs in her back, bone marrow swelling, and torn ligaments and tendons. Other injuries and ailments have occurred, allegedly due to the slip and fall. According to the suit, all of this has cost her quite a lot in medical expenses.

In addition to her physical injuries, the suit claims that the woman has experienced mental anguish caused by the incident. The complaint says that the physical and mental damage she has experienced will cause her to be hindered in the future, and has already done so in the past. This includes a loss of income and/or earning power. Due to all of these things, the woman is seeking $50,000 in damages. Her husband is also seeking $50,000 in damages as a co-plaintiff for loss of consortium. If you have been injured on the premises belonging to a party other than yourself, you may have the ability to pursue a case. Speak with an attorney if you believe that you are due damages for any injuries you have sustained.
