Pennsylvania woman arrested for stealing from hospital

When employees in Pennsylvania and other states are given access to a significant amount of money, it can be tempting for them to steal some of it for themselves, hoping that no one will notice. However, most companies and organizations routinely audit their financial information for signs of fraud and other forms of white collar crime, and people who steal funds from their employer are often caught.

While a Pennsylvania woman was working at a local hospital, she allegedly stole 130 checks over four years. Before the hospital was able to catch her, she had stolen $65,000 from the hospital, and it is unknown whether she will be able to repay her employer. The hospital discovered the theft during an internal audit, and the employee was fired. It is unknown whether the woman had worked at the hospital for several years, or if she began stealing checks as soon as she started the job.

Besides the loss of her job, the woman is also facing criminal charges. After a one-year investigation, law enforcement arrested the woman at her home, and she’s scheduled to appear in court at the end of this month. If she is convicted, she will likely serve a prison sentence. It is unknown whether the woman is married or has any children.

It is important to remember that fraud is a serious crime; people who are convicted often pay large fines and may even serve prison sentences. People who have been charged with white-collar crimes such as embezzlement, identity theft, or mail fraud may want to seek the help of an attorney.
