Pennsylvania woman arrested in store parking lot for possession of heroin

When people in Pennsylvania and elsewhere become addicted to controlled dangerous substances such as heroin, cocaine, and prescription drugs, it affects not only themselves but also their loved ones. Oftentimes, parents of young children find themselves addicted to these substances, and they may face serious consequences that sometimes separate them from their families.

When a Pennsylvania clothing store employee spotted a woman sitting in her car that was parked in the store’s parking lot, she called law enforcement. A police officer arrived at the scene and arrested the woman for possession of heroin and paraphernalia because it was apparent that she was using drugs while she was in the parked car. There was a young child sitting in the back seat. Thankfully, law enforcement discovered the woman before she had the opportunity to drive with the child while she was under the influence of drugs.

It is unknown whether the woman is the mother of the child. If she is the mother, the state’s child welfare department may decide to investigate the matter further to determine whether the child needs to be separated from her.

Hopefully, the woman will seek treatment through a drug diversion program before her addiction becomes even more serious. If she does not find help, it is possible that she will face more serious drug charges in the future. Anyone who is facing drug charges, which often come with severe penalties including fines and prison sentences, may want to consult a defense attorney as soon as possible.
