Man killed and 2 others injured in multi-truck accident

A multi-truck accident on the Philadelphia interstate has led to the death of one man and injury of several others. Reports also suggest that two of the vehicles caught fire.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the truck accident took place on Interstate 81 northbound at mile marker 25 slightly before noon on Aug. 3. Two big rig trucks had stopped in the right lane as a third truck drove slowly past them in the left lane. It was at this moment that a fourth truck that was driving in the right lane failed to stop in time and ran into the back of one of the trailers, pushing it into the second and igniting a vehicle fire.

By the time the authorities arrived it was too late to save the 49-year-old Georgia man whose truck started the accident, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the two trucks in the right lane, a 33-year-old man and a 51-year-old man, received moderate and minor injuries respectively. The dog was in one of the trucks that caught fire but managed to escape, though it received severe wounds in the incident.

When a crash is caused by a negligent truck driver, the individuals who are injured because of that party's actions might be able to pursue remuneration for losses. Even if the driver that apparently caused the wreck dies, the person's estate might be liable for the damages of the other individuals involved. A personal injury attorney could help a client understand if he or she is able to seek compensation under such circumstances.
