A Philadelphia woman claims that she was injured in a 2012 incident due to the negligence of a construction crew and filed suit on June 5. According to the report, the woman, who is blind, stated that the construction crew that was working on a sidewalk failed to properly block or rope off the section that was under construction.

The accident occurred on June 2, 2012. The woman stated that she was walking with the use a cane on Bustleton Avenue when she stumbled over a section of sidewalk that was uneven due to construction. She is said to have suffered several injuries, including trauma to her shoulder, back, knee and wrist.

As a result, she is reportedly seeking compensation for the cost of her medical bills and other expenses related to her recovery. In the lawsuit, the owner of the building who had ordered the repairs, the hired construction company and a subcontractor were named as defendants. The defendants are accused of failing to give warning of the construction to pedestrians and failing to section-off the area to avoid a safety hazard.

Property owners are responsible for ensuring that their property is free of any obstacles that could potentially result in an accident. If work is being done on the property, both the owner and the construction crew are responsible for reducing any risks. If someone should slip and fall on the property and suffer an injury, they may be eligible to file a personal injury lawsuit against the parties at fault.
