Fiery crash at Pennsylvania gas station leaves woman in ICU

A 21-year-old woman suffered severe burns when her car was struck at a gas pump in the Kensington area of Philadelphia, according to authorities. The woman's daughter was also involved in the Sept. 25 accident, which gave rise to flames, but she was reportedly rescued from the back seat by an unidentified man wearing "some kind of uniform."

Officials accuse man of impaired driving in fatal crash

Authorities recently reported that a 41-year-old Allentown driver involved in a South Whitehall Township crash in May was on methadone and opiates at the time of the incident. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, a man was killed in the accident.

GM may have been aware of safety issues since 2005

Pennsylvania residents are likely aware that General Motors has been mired in controversy since the beginning of 2014 regarding defects that have led to the recall of over 16 million vehicles. The Detroit-based automaker had admitted that problems with the ignition switches on cars including the Chevrolet Cobalt and Saturn Ion have caused 30 car accidents and claimed the lives of 37 people. However, the most concerning questions for legislators and consumer advocates revolve around how soon GM actually became aware of the problem and the nature of their response.

Teen charged in head-on crash

A Pennsylvania teenager has been charged in a car accident that resulted in the death of a 65-year-old woman. The driver, a 19-year-old woman, was driving on Route 145 in North Whitehall Township on April 12 when she allegedly crossed over the yellow lines and into the path of oncoming traffic. Her vehicle hit the older woman's car. The vehicle contained one passenger, a minor. All three people were hospitalized after both drivers had to be pried out of their vehicles by emergency crews.

Head-on collision takes the life of Pennsylvania man

On June 12 in Jefferson Township, a 23-year-old man from Bernville was driving a Volkswagen north on Route 183 around 2:30 a.m. According to police, he was traveling at a high rate of speed. Witnesses that happened to be driving behind the Volkswagon stated that he was weaving and driving off of the roadway. At one point, he overcorrected when re-entering the highway, crashing head-on into a southbound vehicle. A 43-year-old man from Bernville was driving the other vehicle, a 2013 Ford F-150.

Philadelphia car accident tragically kills student

Victims of fatal car accidents are not always passengers or drivers of vehicles. Car wrecks can cause vehicles to leave the roadways and damage property or, worse, injure or kill pedestrians. Paying extra attention to blind spots and intersections, crosswalks and road signs, as well as speed limits in and around busy foot-trafficked areas can help prevent such tragedies.
