A Pennsylvania accident has tragic results

According to a recent report, an alleged hit-and-run accident in Pennsylvania left one man injured and another man dead on Jan. 28. A retired Pittsburgh police officer and his brother had been traveling on an inbound ramp near Squirrel Hill Tunnel in an SUV when a silver mid-sized sedan appeared. The driver of the SUV honked and tried to steer out of the oncoming sedan's path. Despite the driver's attempt to keep the SUV clear of the sedan, the approaching car struck the SUV.

The impact of drugged driving on Pennsylvania drivers

According to a 2007 study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 16 percent of nighttime, weekend drivers tested positive for some sort of illegal or prescription drug. About 11 percent of drivers tested positive for illicit drugs. In 2013, the National Survey on Drug Use and Health revealed that 3.8 percent of those over the age of 12 admitted to driving while under the influence of drugs.

4 killed, 2 injured in fiery Pennsylvania crash

Authorities reported four fatalities in connection with a Dec. 19 crash in Carbon County. The incident involved two vehicles, both of which reportedly caught fire as a result of the crash. Officials needed dental records to identify three of the four decedents, according to authorities.

Pennsylvania man injured in crash

A 75-year-old Pennsylvania man was left in serious condition following a Dec. 17 collision with a propane truck. The propane truck pulled out of a driveway and collided with the man's vehicle, sending it into a ditch where the 75-year-old man became trapped.

Multi-vehicle collision kills Pennsylvania man

Pennsylvania State Police confirmed that a 76-year-old man died as the result of a three-vehicle collision on U.S. 11 in Antrim Township on Dec. 3. Purportedly, the 76-year-old man had been traveling northbound on the highway when he collided head-on with a southbound car that crossed the centerline.

Pennsylvania motorists live in a busy world, and cellphones make it easier to keep up with the pace. However, texting while driving can result in serious injuries or death to motorists or pedestrians, making it important for those driving to understand the implications of their actions. Statistics reflect the increase in distracted driving incidents, and many such wrecks prove to be fatal or cause serious injuries.

Pennsylvania woman charged in fatal accident

A woman was arrested and charged on Sept. 24 in connection with a fatal accident in Mahanoy Township on March 29. The woman, whose bail was set at $100,000, is facing charges of drug possession, aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, involuntary manslaughter, homicide by vehicle while DUI and various traffic violations.
