According to law enforcement authorities, a 74-year-old Myerstown woman lost her life as a result of a two-vehicle collision on Oct. 24 in Jackson Township. The accident allegedly occurred around 10:30 am according to Pennsylvania state police.

Reports indicate that the woman was driving her 1995 Taurus station wagon through the intersection of South Ramona Road and West Main Avenue. The other driver, a 76-year-old man, was apparently driving a 2002 Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The man allegedly ran a stop sign at the intersection and hit the woman’s vehicle broadside. There is no word on what caused the man to allegedly run the stop sign.

The Lebanon County Deputy Coroner was called out by emergency responders. He pronounced the woman dead at the scene of the accident. The 76-year-old man was transported via ambulance to Reading Hospital for treatment of what police classified as minor injuries he sustained in the accident. The victim leaves behind her disabled husband for whom she had provided care for many years.
