Lansdale is a borough in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The total population of Lansdale is more than 16,500 people, and the geographic area of the borough is 2.99 square miles. Lansdale was incorporated in 1872 and named after Phillip Lansdale Fox, the chief surveyor of the North Penn Railroad. Prior to incorporation, Lansdale was a major site for expansion of the North Pennsylvania Railroad. Today, Lansdale is situated fewer than 30 miles away from Philadelphia, PA. Additionally, Lansdale is part of the North Penn Valley, a region of Philadelphia suburbs and exurbs that covers more than 42 square miles and that has a population of nearly 100,000 people.
Lansdale is home to two historically important sites designated for preservation and listed on the National Register of Historic Places: the Jenkins Homestead (a historic home built in 1805) and Lansdale Silk Hosiery Compy-Interstate Hosiery Mills, Inc.
